Release RASS-S v6.2.0p6 December 2005 |
06.12.2005 |
Patch 6 on RASS-S version 6.2.0. release April 2005; (Also requires patch 5; released 30/9/2005)
This patch resolves following additional items to patch 5:
1) This patch adds the "Tower track" version of the RTG. This allows PSR target injection with elevation movement.
It also includes the "Streaming mode" for the RTG, allowing more complex interrogation patterns to be used for target injection.
2) This patch adds a dual or triple UDR recording, allowing to record up to 6 channels of Synchronous serial data using 1,2 or 3 UDRs into one recording file.
This modification also influenced slightly the Convert and protocol viewer tools.
3) This patch adds an improved version of the protocol viewer and convert tool for specific formats of LAN recorded data, with specific headers. (NG specific)
4) Several smaller improvements were performed on the RFC software.
5) The event scenario generator HMI was simplified and all irrelevant functions removed from the HMI. Some smaller bugs were also removed.
6) The RES self test and calibration tool can now be used to calibrate the radar receiver without the requirement for an RFA.
7) The Gyro-Inclinometer analysis software automatically compensates for the orientation of the Gyro- module in the RGI versus RTL modules (NAMSA specific)
8) The "pulse counter" in the RFA/RFC/RFX/RMU front panel in Scope mode counted 16 times to fast when acquiring pulses. This was resolved. Also the RFX would not show pulses in scope mode, which was resolved.
9) The HMI of the "Convert" tool was simplified, such that it now automatically finds the lines in the recording, and all irrelevant functions have been removed from the main window.

Release RASS-S v6.2.0p5 September 2005 |
06.12.2005 |
Patch 5 on RASS-S version 6.2.0. release April 2005; (also contains patch 4 released 22/9/2005 , patch 3 released 29/8/2005 and patch 2 released 7/6/2005)
This patch solves following items:
2.1 A new batch of RIU 282 was created, using an improved Mode S decoder module with higher dynamic range. A software modification in the DSP code was needed to run this RIU. BEWARE: all RIUs with serial nr above 20 will not run with software versions below 6.2.0p2!
2.2 The Trajectory scenario generator help file was improved. A number of controls without description (“No description available”) now have descriptions.
2.3 The trajectory scenario generator now allows the user to switch off a specific channel of the RES when replying to All Call or SSR interrogations. Use the preferences window, select the “RES” tab and switch off one or more channels
2.4 The Reference extractor was modified to allow processing of two specific cases:
-Mode 1 and 2 interrogations / replies with P2 pulse in trigger signal
-11, 13 or 15 bit ACP data connected
2.5 The LAN replay module now also allows to replay an UDP recorded dataset
2.6 The UDR now also allows you to record in bit recording mode. This mode is similar to the bit recording mode of the RDR or EDR. Specific convert modules for this mode are under development.
3.1a This patch allows the usage of the UDR as bit recorder. (Decoding software is under development)
3.1b This patch adds an "endless loop" recording feature to the UDR, similar to the EDR.
3.2 This patch improves the RTG:
-It allows the RTG to operate on L-S band and improves the HMI of the RTG. (saving preferences)
-It adds "endless” scenarios to RTG, (previously 64seconds)
-It saves the preferences of the RTG, depending on selected frequency band.
-It adds a driver for "180 degrees phase reversal" module, which swaps the phase of the RTG output 180 degrees each interrogation.
3.3 This patch removes some initial problems of the Radar Field Analyzer for C band
3.4 The EDR Convert tool now also converts and filters correctly data with multiple ASTERIX data with only in first message SIC-SAC code.
3.5 When calling 3D scan loggings from Toolbox, the wrong viewing tool was evoked. Also when saving the file, a correct extension is added.
3.6 This patch adds the 3D scan tools for COBRA radar under the ADD_ON menu.
5.1 This patch adds the prototype of the on line user manual. If the user selects the online reference button (the second from the left in the RASS-S6.vi Toolbox), some vi’s will open with a linked PDF file explaining the usage and methods to run the vi.
If the user selects the online connection diagram button (the third from the left in the RASS-S6.vi Toolbox), the tool will load an online PDF connection diagram.
5.2 This patch improves on the "scanning" principle of newly connected equipment, and shows the list of available serial numbers in the "settings" window, evoked from the RASS-S6.vi toolbox.
5.3 The inclinometer data as generated by the RGI is now also available as multi-turn data in the multi-turn graph, along with the Gyro data and the ACP-ARP data. Load the "RGI 59x Gyro-Inclino Data Analysis" tool and load data in the file. Next select the "multi-turn" button to view multi-turn gyro, ACP-ARP or Inclino data.
5.4 The window based recording tool will no longer jump to 0,0 when no data is decoded or available from the data recorder or other source of linking data.
5.5 The "View recorded Pulses" for RFA can now show a longer history. The "time" control under the index now allows values above 10 seconds.
5.6 Some tools did not have correct help fields attributed. These were corrected.
5.7 The PTE P2B data display with linked "status display" and info windows now operates correctly on linked Mode S data. This implies that now the full v4 PTE PTE P2B1 and P2B2 functionality is supported in version 6.
5.8 The trajectory scenario generator sometimes featured an out of memory error if the user attempted to make a static target (speed=0) fly a distance. This was solved in this release. In the same tool, the loading of aircraft and transponder databases was improved.
5.9 The RTG driver and the HMI of the tool were improved after some tests performed on several radars.

Release Version 6.2 April 2005 |
18.04.2005 |
A new version of RASS-S6 is released in April 2005. Because of the major changes/upgrades compared to the latest software (RASS-S6 v6.1.3) the new release was named: RASS-S v6.2. The new tools included in the RASS-S6.2 toolbox are:
1. The Radar Target Generator (RTG): This primary target generator uses an advanced optical and digital delay line to recreate the position of a fixed or moving primary target. Several versions of the RTG exist, for L- & S-band, C-band or X-band radars.
2. The Remote Field Monitor function for RFA and RMU (or “PARROT” function), previously only supported for the RFT181, has now been modernized and modified to operate on the RFA225, RFA641 and RMU481.The tool mimics the behaviour of an SSR (Mode 1, 2, 3, A, C) transponder. The tool has improved monitoring functions, programmable power and range, and the possibility to load and create scenarios. The SSR target can therefore be positioned at any range or follow a predefined range versus time trajectory.
3. The RMU Interrogation Recorder: The RMU can now be delivered with an optional “Mode S decoder” module, allowing the decoding of Mode S interrogations, either in the field or connected to a radar. The first function is the monitoring and recording of Mode S interrogations in the field, hereby registering the exact II codes or SI codes used by a specific radar. The second function of this tool is to serve as Mode S interrogation decoder for RTQC video recordings or other video pulse recordings in Mode S stations.
4. Moving Platform Scenario Generation for RES: Under the stimulus of a major Radar manufacturer, Intersoft developed the “RES for moving platform”. This tool allows the generation of a scenario (up to 2048 targets, same as normal trajectory scenario) as seen from a moving platform, e.g. a ship, truck or radar equipped aircraft. The tool generates the necessary RF returns for IFF or Mode S targets with correct relative position to the moving platform.
5. The Clutter Recording Analysis tool: The clutter recording tool, created for the USAF, and using the Radar Video Recorder as recording tool, was enhanced further with a “Clutter Analyser” to incorporate extra features.
6. The Radar Field Analyser for C-band: The RFC709 has the same functionalities as the RFA641 and the RFX474 but is especially designed for use on a C-band radar (5-6 GHz). As the RFX474 the Radar Field Analyser for C-band was developed for military users.
7. The Solar Predictor: The Solar Predictor calculates the position of the sun from the following information: Date, UTC Offset, Latitude, Longitude and the Minimum and Maximum elevation.
