TPQ36 Upgrade

Firefinder radars like the AN/TPQ-36 need to be highly mobile, fast deployable and controllable from a safe distance. The requirement of detecting new types of weapons at a higher rate places a performance overhead on system that were already operating at the peak of technology for their time.

In this perspective Intersoft electronics upgraded several AN/TPQ-36 radar systems for the Royal Netherlands Army (RNLA) under a Service Life Extension Program (SLEP).

• The trailer-mounted Radar Upgrade Processor (RUP) takes care of I/Q demodulation, plot detection, tracking and scheduling and replaces as such the original shelter.

• A VSDL2 interface on coax allows for Control And Monitor (CAM) from a safe distance.
